RESERVOIR WATCH OFFICIAL WATCHMAKER OF THE IDEC SPORT RACING TEAM FOR ELMS 2021 SEASON WITH THE GT TOUR CARBON VINTAGE PILOT WATCH

The Watchmaking House RESERVOIR is proud to announce its partnership with the IDEC SPORT racing team as the official watchmaker for the 2021 season of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). This collaboration is the result of common aspiration between the two teams driven by a taste for entrepreneurship and performance. To kick off the 2021 championship season, IDEC SPORT is coming to Barcelona in force with two LMP2 Oreca competing in the European Le Mans Series to compete in the 4 Hours of Barcelona. IDEC SPORT and ELMS went to Spain and found the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit located in Montmeló, 32km north of Barcelona, opened in 1991. If the 2020 round was canceled due to the COVID crisis, Catalonia hosts the opening round 2021, but the meeting will be behind closed doors. The 2021 European Endurance Championship field consists of 16 LMP2, 17 LMP3 and 10 GTE. The LMP2 field is the largest international contingent in the category (excluding 24H of Le Mans).

IDEC SPORT enters two LMP2 Oreca: the # 28 driven by Paul Lafargue, Paul-Loup Chatin and Patrick Pilet and the # 17 led by Kyle Tilley, Dwight Merriman and Ryan Dalziel. The latter is also entered in the LMP2 / AM category since the crew includes a Bronze driver. The pilots will wear the RESERVOIR GT TOUR Carbon vintage pilot watch during the race. This is the second time that the team has entered two LMP2s on the Catalan circuit, but the first with two Orecas.

«“We can’t wait to get to Barcelona. We are starting the season in more normal conditions than last year. We prepared for the arrival of the second car this winter and we tried to prepare as well as possible logistically and technically. The pre-season tests went well, whether at Barcelona, Magny-Cours or Spa. The pilots and mechanics got back into the rhythm and the whole team is extremely motivated. Each year the championship levels up and we try to optimize the details to be ahead because we all have the same car in LMP2. We will see the result of our work in the first race. We want to start the season calmly and play on the podium, ”explains Nicolas Minassian, IDEC SPORT team manager.

The runs will start on Monday April 12 with the Prologue (12 and 13). Free practice will take place on 16th and 17th. LMP2 qualifying will be followed on Saturday 17th April at 2.20pm. The start of the race will be given on Sunday 18 at 11 a.m. The 43 competitors will then have 4 hours to complete the 4.675 km of the Spanish route as many times as possible. For its 30th anniversary, the circuit has changed turn 10 (the hairpin after the second straight). The new configuration requires stronger braking but allows faster cornering. This modification is therefore well suited to cars with strong downforce.
