ELMS 2022: RESERVOIR x IDEC SPORT race together on the Portimão track on Sunday 16th, October 2022.
The last round of the European Le Mans Series will start on 16th October 2022 at 2pm in Portimão, a town located in the south of Portugal in the Algarve region. On this occasion, the teams of the three car categories (LMP2, LMP3 and LMGTE) will come together to contest the 4-hour race and cover the 4,684 km of racetrack which separates them from victory and the final podium. In total, 27 teams, 118 drivers and 41 cars will compete this Sunday 16th of October. The drivers will first have to pass the free practice and qualifying stages which will be held from Friday 14th to Saturday 15th of October (October 15th at 6:15pm for the LMP2 category).
The LMP2 team IDEC SPORT – of which RESERVOIR is the official watchmaking partner – will still be part of the competition after scoring a third place podium at the Monza race in Italy last July 3rd. IDEC SPORT is currently ranked at the 5th place in the LMP2 classification, with a total of 47 points accumulated over the last 5 ELMS races, and holds a respectable position among the 15 LMP2 teams. The 3 French drivers competing for IDEC – Paul Loup Chatin, Paul Lafargue and Patrick Pilet – will have to give their best to try to recover 4th place in the ranking and overtake the Swiss team COOL RACING which totalizes 55 points, 8 points ahead of IDEC. So far, the first place of the podium is held by the Italian team PREMA RACING with a total score of 100 points. The Portimão race is a new challenge for IDEC SPORT, who will try to end the 2022 ELMS season with a second title.
The Portimão circuit is punctuated by 16 corners, 7 of which are on the left and 9 on the right. The drivers will have to work together for 4 hours to cover the 4,684 meters of circuit and finish at the top of their respective categories. The difficulty of Portimão is not the least and the drivers will have to put their driving skills to the test and redouble their concentration.
RESERVOIR x IDEC SPORT PARTNERSHIP
RESERVOIR will once again have the pleasure of accompanying and sponsoring IDEC SPORT for this last ELMS race of the season alongside its 3 drivers. This long-standing partnership is materialized with the new IDEC SPORT 2022 car, the Oreca 28, on which the RESERVOIR logo appears clearly. The team and the watchmaking company will go through this last event together, pushing back the limits of performance, technicality and speed.
To honor its partnership with IDEC, RESERVOIR has developed in 2020 and 2021 two limited edition 24-piece watches – the IDEC SPORT GT-Tour carbon edition 2021 and the IDEC SPORT GT-Tour Skeleton edition 2020 – with the IDEC logo on the dial. Each of these watches was carried in the IDEC SPORT car during the Le Mans 24-hour race the same years.
