RESERVOIR HYDROSPHERE BRONZE X REVOLUTION NOMINATED IN THE DIVING CATEGORY AT THE 2020 GRAND PRIX DE L’HORLOGERIE DE GENÈVE
Since 2001, the Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève has been a prestigious annual event rewarding the most beautiful creations of the year. Often compared to watchmaking “Oscars”, the GPHG is a major event in the watchmaking calendar and one of the most famous media showcases in the world.
The Academy of the 2020 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) selected and retained eighty-four watches in fourteen categories. RESERVOIR is nominated, in the category “Diving” with the RESERVOIR Hydrosphere Bronze x Revolution.
RESERVOIR HYDROSPHERE BRONZE X REVOLUTION “THE MALDIVES EDITION”
Immersion imminent in the waters of the Maldives. The pressure is mounting. Desires for exploration and challenge infuse the senses and the mind. Stay focused, the time to check the equipment: bottles, oxygen, regulator, stabilizer … Sealed to the wrist, Hydrosphere, a watch bearing the image of scuba diving gauges, the first survival instruments for divers.
Having a unidirectional rotating bezel with a double scale graduation, and equipped with a helium valve and a power indicator, RESERVOIR Hydrosphere Bronze asserts its uniqueness with a single needle on the dial. Upending the aesthetics of vintage diving watches, it possesses the mainstays of a successful dive: security, functionality, confidence itself and its equipment.
The waterproof case which serves as the watch box contains an original print produced by its official illustrator Alain BOULDOUYRE.
ABOUT THE « GRAND PRIX D’HORLOGERIE DE GENÈVE » (GPHG)
The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) is intended to annually highlight and recognize the excellence of contemporary watchmaking productions and contribute to the influence of watchmaking throughout the world. The Foundation of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) is publishing today on its gphg.org website the list of 84 watches nominated by its Academy. Created at the beginning of 2020, the GPHG Academy – encompassing more than 350 key players from the main sectors of the international watch industry – has recently conducted its first round of voting via a dedicated digital platform specially designed to preserve the anonymity of information and the confidentiality of the results. The 84 nominated timepieces, divided into 14 categories, will continue the competition to win one of the 18 prizes intended to salute the year’s finest watchmaking creations, including the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix.
Ahead of the award ceremony, the GPHG organizes a traveling exhibition in major cities around the world every autumn presenting the preselected watches. Exceptionally this year, the watches will be presented only in Switzerland in the following cities :
- La Chaux-de-Fonds : Musée International d’Horlogerie (MIH), 14-18 october
- Zurich : Bucherer, 20-22 octobre – Berne : Hôtel Bellevue, 23-25 october
- Genève : Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (MAH), 30 october-15 november
A jury of 30 members drawn from the Academy, will soon be constituted and meet behind closed doors in Geneva. During this notary-supervised encounter, they will physically evaluate each of the nominated watches and cast a final vote by secret ballot. All Academy members will also take part in the final vote via the dedicated digital platform.
The names of the winners will be announced on Thursday November 12, 2020, at the 20th GPHG awards ceremony, a unifying event that plays a strategic role in promoting the new models released by the sector.
